Oasis - Lord Don't Slow Me Down
More on: Oasis

Label: Big Brother
Release Date: 21/10/07
Rating:

For a band that produced two of the finest records of the Nineties within 18 months of each other, Oasis' output, as been at best, spaced out since. It's been two years since last studio album 'Don't Believe The Truth', a full year from the greatest hits package 'Stop The Clocks', and the DVD documentary from which this release is taken has taken over a year to materialise. They are currently in the studio recording a new album, which we won't see until the middle of next year at the earliest. This makes the release of download only single Lord Don't Slow Me Down' even more frustrating, because it whets the appetite, and reminds us of why we loved them.

It's a blues-heavy rock and roll stomper that, like much of the last studio album, points to a band happy and content creatively. Noel Gallagher really belts out the vocal, and where Liam would have once been missed on a track like this, Noel's voice seems to fit perfectly. It has an energy and excitement that suggests great things if this is the direction they are heading on the new record. Influenced by Noel listening to a lot of Neil Young and Bob Dylan, this is Oasis building hugely on the best parts of 'Don't Believe The Truth'.

Its three minutes of pure out-and-out rock and roll. It's what we love them for, it's why we still care. We just wish they'd get a bloody move on and not leave it so long next time.
