Following the Stone Roses schooling in release gaps, this is the first release off the New York band's new album. Coming six years since their last LP, this thankfully bears no relation to the aberration that was 'The Second Coming', starting off like a less fiddly Bloc Party. The chorus clicks in, and whoosh, with an angry swish flies around and the song is away.
'The Year Before The Year 2000' is, unsurprisingly, about the pre-millennium annum, with a rocky repeated chorus of "nine-teen nine-ty nine, nineteenninetynine's alright." Les Savy Fav have returned triumphantly with a great single release that shows they're a class above all their angular art punk peers.
