Black Lips - Katrina
More on: Black Lips

American punks Black Lips are back with 'Katrina', an ode to Hurricane Katrina and CNN's coverage of its devastating effects. The cringe-worthy Greenday/U2 'let's save the world and make a change' anthem 'The Saints are Coming' is a far cry from the genuine ability to combine sensitive subject matter withbrilliant pop/punk music and spirit, achieved here by Black Lips.

Reminiscent of early work of The Stooges and The Ramones, it's safe to say you're on to a classic in the making with this little belter. Famed for their frantic, anarchic live shows Black Lips have created quite a reputation, but it's not all hype. With an ever-increasing back catalogue of equally infectious tunes, they are making a substantiated, long overdue, three chord attack on the music scene and it's about time too.
