Bjork - Innocence
More on: Bjork

Label: One Little Indian
Release Date: 23/07/07
Rating:

As ever, Bjork stands stubbornly, looking disapprovingly at any label one may try and pin onto her. Brand new fusions, combinations and blends are introduced to her capabilities and a decent song into her back-catalogue.

15 million albums later and Bjork's sound has diversified and matured, yet what does remain - and is present here - is sharp melodic lines, amid what can only ever be described as creative chaos.

In 'Innocence', her distinctive vocals are crisp and clean - a neat and vital contrast to the irregular and intermittent backing; the relationship of these layers is seemingly fundamental to the tracks brilliance. Ironically, violent-sounding scratches, strikes and bangs sit ignorantly on a song called 'Innocence'. Typical of a Bjork release, further charm is only added.
