Alex Kapranos has spoken of the progress of the new Franz Ferdinand album.
The band's singer revealed to MTV that work has begun for the third album, and a 2008 release is expected. No title has been chosen, and they still need to come up with more songs. Written tracks are 'Favourite Lie', 'Anyone In Love', 'Flight of the Galvatron', 'A New Thrill', 'English Goodbye' and 'Turn It On'.
Kapranos also said that the new songs have got "a much heavier synth/dance kind of element to them". He added that they are after a producer for the new record, and Erol Alkan is in the running: "He's young, and he sees things in a different way than a lot of old-school producers. I reckon he'll be the Andy Warhol of our age. He's a good guy." Franz Ferdinand worked with Alkan on the cover of LCD Soundsystem's 'All My Friends'.
