Paramore - Misery Business
More on: Paramore

Label: Fueled By Ramen
Release Date: 18/06/07
Rating:

To be fair this is exactly the sort of music you'd expect 17 year olds to be listening to, and the fact that it's also played by teenagers should come as little surprise.

If this was the produce of a bunch of thirty-somethings it'd probably be time to get a real job. However, Paramore as a band - despite their tender years - are mean musicians, and in lead singer Hayley Williams they have a vocalist capable of keeping up with the boys and even surpassing quite a few.

It's a frenetic number a touch reminiscent of No Doubt's more upbeat efforts, although vocally, Williams is a better singer than Gwen Stefani. On the downside, it is lyrically bland, and does nothing new musically - although with the style of music they've chosen its virtually impossible to be anything but derivative.

Paramore are worthy of watching just to see how they progress over the next couple of years as their music matures. They just might surprise us all.
