Brighton based duo Blood Red Shoes bring a punkier slant to the bouncy indie-girly thing that has been so well done by the likes of The Pipettes and The Hot Puppies of late. Their sound is excellent, and they blatantly have a cracking ear for a tune, but a lack of ideas lets the side down in this case.
Don't get me wrong, 'It's Getting Boring By The Sea' is a decent track, and the riff is to die for, however it is let down by the fact that it doesn't really go anywhere. Once it hits the chorus it seems to get stuck on repeat for about two minutes and then stops suddenly, leaving a air of disappointment in its wake.
Overall, this is an infinitely danceable track which will go down a storm in your local indie disco, but it's not one you'd want to take home and keep forever.
