Digitalism - Pogo
More on: Digitalism

Digitalism may come from Germany, the spiritual home of electronica, and although this is a clinical and meticulously executed slice of electro, it has a warmth and life that has more in common with Manchester than Berlin.

'Pogo' has nothing at all to do with punk as the name might suggest, other than the fact that it sounds like a Daft Punk remix of New Order. It's a pounding techno-disco number with a lively combination of doodling synth-bass that buzzes away like a wasp trapped between your ears, and bass guitar played as lead instrument, in the style of Peter Hook.

The energy of the track and lines such as the repeat-to-fade "we could get so wasted" mean that 'Pogo' is sure to become the theme for many a Day-Glo all-nighter.
