Less than a year ago Cajun Dance Party didn't even exist, but in that short period of time this north London five piece have already had phenomenal success and recognition. 'The Next Untouchable', the band's debut release out on April 16th, comes on the back of a handful of gigs local to the band and publicises their own version of music incorporating influences from far and wide.
Extremely well produced - and indeed orchestrated - 'The Next Untouchable' encompasses every slight, every nuance and incorporates every element to the band's musical make up. Erupting into proceedings is a fiery, melodic spell of electric guitar, tinged with the essence of a country ho down. Robbie Stern's guitar work throughout this whole episode is faultless and despite his age, shows talent beyond his years.
Lead vocalist Daniel Blumberg is a vocal gift, with the lyrics conveyed in a wounded yet fighting way. Blumberg is able to evoke a careless, yet timeless sound that engrains itself on the mind.
Let's hope this single is a true reflection of what Cajun Dance Party's potential really is, and that the group don't prove to be a one hit wonder.
