So much hype surrounds certain bands, especially those on pretty much every 'Bands to look out for in 2007' list going. For most, the hype will be unfounded, but for others it will be greatly deserved. The Pigeon Detectives are definitely in the latter group. Championed by Kaiser Chiefs, and sounding like Larrikin Love jamming with a cheerful Arctic Monkeys, this track proves it's not always grim up north.

'Romantic Type' is a joyous summer-tinged record that will be belted out at a festival near you this summer. Drums beat the door down, guitars weave in between each other, and lyrics that are the equivalent of musical chicken pox (infectious and bloody hard to avoid) will be lodged in your brain for days to come. The track rises and falls with a split tempo chorus that calms you down before the verse drags you kicking and screaming onto the dance floor.

This is indie pop at its very finest; many more tracks like this and The Pigeon Detectives are in danger of becoming absolutely huge this year, and for many more years to come.
