In an age when we are being engulfed by 'new-rave' and multi-layered angular guitar bands, it is nice to occasionally stop dancing, remove the neon, and just sit back to enjoy a simpler pleasure. Thank the lord then, that Will Oldham, aka Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, still appreciates the value of combining acoustic guitar and voice.
Just like the greatest acoustic troubadours, the star of the show is Oldham’s vocal and lyrical talent. The guitar lines are simple and understated, allowing Billy to wrap his melancholic tones around sparse lyrics that somehow, against all reason, warm you beyond your narrator’s apparent chilly dampness.
