It's pretty obvious Jemina Pearl and co have been working hard on 'Adventure'. It's not the fact that indie's current hottest stateside squeeze happens to be fronting one of the best dangerously sharp pop songs of the year so far, but they manage to get past the minute mark. Result!
Ignore the needless killing of innocent bunny rabbits for a second, because Be Your Own Pet are the only band who look close to challenging Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Long Blondes in the so-hot-it-hurts stakes. Simple, effective and wonderfully emotive, a vocal line that yelps, jumps and swaggers throughout proves Pearl to be more than just another star in the making.
Be Your Own Pet may still be kids, but they're already showing the old guard how it's done. With an album on the horizon, the adventure has only begun.
